INVENTORIES OF 1755 AND 1778 LIST MILL FIXTURES, FITTINGS AND TOOLS AT LOWER MILL. INVENTORIES INDICATE MILL WAS THEN A CORN MILL, BUT BY 1825 SHOWN AS A SILK MILL ON BRYANT'S MAP (B14).

First mentioned in 1504 and last used c.1887 (B16).
Grade II. Built as Bury Mill C17 and C18; altered. L-plan, red brick with timber framing to upper part of south block. Old tiled roofs. East wing has moulded brick cornice. Two storeys. South wing has door on left, 3 modern casements to ground floor, 4 large mullion and transome diamond leaded windows to first floor one with 3-light and rectangular panes appearing older than others. East wing had door and three 2-light C19 iron lattice, casements three similar windows to first floor and plain dummy window over door. Low 2-gabled wing at end of south wing. Rear elevation has recess for waterwheel, modern weatherboarding, three modern dormers (B13).
