THE HUMAN SKULLS, OTHER BONES, & WARLIKE IMPLEMENTS FOUND ON/NEAR THE LINEAR EARTHWORK (B1) MAY IN FACT INDICATE AN EARLY SAXON BURIAL SITE (B4) RATHER THAN A ?CIVIL WAR BATTLEFIELD (B1).
SITE GIVEN IN B1 AS PITCH GREEN, A HALF-MILE N OF STEWKLEY CHURCH; PITCHGREEN FURLONG (NGR) ON MAP 1814 (B6).
