Description
'Gasometer' shown on 1st edition 25-inch OS map at NGR; shown on 1900 2nd edition edition 6-inch map as 'Gasometers', so presumably gasworks had been expanded. Ancillary buildings (but not the gasometers) shown on subsequent OS maps until the 1960s (B10).
Notice of auction published in The Times of 4th July 1894 mentions 'gas houses and two retorts' (B7).
