Description
Probable eighteenth to nineteenth century milestone on A4010 at North Lee near Stoke Mandeville close to North Lee Farm. On Milestones Society survey website as present in 2002 on Wycombe to Aylesbury route National ID number BU_WYAY13. 38cm wide 20cm deep 84cm high on west side of road. Recorded with bench mark on OS map and with rivet on top. ' Arrow heads for direction of travel.' Inscription in black paint : front : STOKE MANDEVILLE 1 { } : AYLESBURY 3 1/2 { } : WYCOMBE { } 13. Confirmed by handwritten notes on 1" OS map (1835) were in Bucks County Museum now in Centre for Bucks Studies. Museum number 33 sheet XXXIII on page 4 of notes. Inscription: London 42 H Wyc 13. On Terrick to Stoke Mandeville (J4) route [ Handwritten notes consulted ] (B2).
