Description

Probable military campsite adjacent to and within an area of woodland in Wotton Underwood Park, on the east side of Kingswood Lane. Possible barrack blocks, access roads and ancillary buildings seen on 1947 AP. 'Camp Site (dis)' marked at this location on 1983 1:10,000 OS map (B1).
Canadian troops were billeted in temporary buildings during the Second World War; the concerete foundations are still visible (B2). Presumably temporary accomodation in advance of D-Day?
