Description
SAID TO HAVE BEEN FORMERLY A CHAPEL DEDICATED TO ST CATHERINE. STILL A FEAST HELD AT HER FESTIVAL (B1). CHAPEL DEDICATED TO ST ANDREW (B2-3). SITE OF CHAPEL GRANTED 1586 TO JOHN WALTON (B4). FIELD IDENTIFIED AS 'CHAPEL CLOSE'. NO VISIBLE FEATURES. SCHOOL NOW OCCUPIES N PART OF FIELD (B5). 'Gawcott...had a chapel in former times, as is proved by a field retaining the name of 'Chapel Close' and shewing marks of ancient Building' (B6).
