Description
BRICKFIELD, KILN, AT NGR (1). Kelly's DIRECTORY ENTRIES: 1877 'CLARKE, JOHN, BRICK AND TILE MAKER, TINKERS END '; 1883-91 'CLARK, ROBERT, BRICK AND TILE MAKER, TINKERS END' (2). NO VISIBLE REMAINS OF THE BRICKWORKS, EXCEPT FOR A FEW AMORPHOUS EARTHWORKS IN A FIELD OF ROUGH PASTURE (3-4)
The Mineral Extraction Site Project notes the mapping evidence for the site. Pre 1930 the site is shown as a brickfield and kiln , the 'tile works' appears in annotation from then onwards. The kiln is noted as having been demolished in the 1970s (5).
