Plan Form - CIRCULAR
Grade II. Windmill. Dated 1830 on bricks, adapted for steam engine later C19, abandoned 1881, in process of restoration 1984. Red and vitreous header brick. Tapering circular tower of unusual height due to position in lee of hill. Six storeys. Windows with segmental heads and cast iron glazing bars, mostly renewed. Door to south with similar fanlight. Wooden balcony to third floor. Metal dome to be replaced, sails to be re-made. Most machinery intact, including main spindle, drive wheels for 3 grind stones, gear mechanism for fantail, belt driven spindles for flour-dresser, and spindle for sack hoist (B8).
